One of the approximately 3,275,413 items I (or my wife) have wanted to update about our home was the front porch light.
Last fall we found a great deal on an open box light at Lowe’s. After a short 6 month wait I installed it today. In the process I discovered the old fixture had never had the ground wire connected even though there was a post on the old mounting bracket to do so with all needed hardware.
I didn’t get a true before picture so here’s the beautiful fixture held in front of the brickwork.
And now, the new hotness.
Just look at that bargain! I already know I’ve added at least $0.0001 to the value of this house.

That first photo makes it look like the globe is full of water.

Nope, just good old fashioned filth combined with yellowed plastic.

You got lucky. I usually see their clearance prices like $44.48 marked down from $44.98.

I mean this one was open and missing a screw. I was able to reuse one from the old light. They had to drastically mark it down because if I hadn’t already had one that screw might’ve set me back a nickel before tax.
I’ve actually gotten a few really good deals at Lowe’s. Home Depot is where I see boxes missing half the pieces getting marked down 5%.

Your project was very satisfying I bet, getting the deal and all.
I may be confusing HD and Lowe’s clearance practices
